West Ham United would be hoping to boost their top-four credentials in the Premier League with a win when they travel to Manchester to take on hosts Manchester United who are also one of the teams in the keenly contested battle for a place in the top four. The Hammers are targeting a return to winning ways after the shock home defeat suffered at the hands of Leeds United in a Premier League clash played at the London Stadium on Sunday.

A depleted Leeds United were able to secure a 3-2 away win at the expense of West Ham United thanks to the first career hat-trick from Jack Harrison. Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals were the goalscorers for the Hammers. The David Moyes-led side had won their last three league games before the Leeds United game.

Manchester United are the next league opponents for West Ham United and they go into the game on the back of the win at Brentford to end a run of two games without victory. The Red Devils secured a 3-1 win over the Bees to return to winning ways in the league thanks to the goals from the attacking trio of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Elanga.

West Ham United and Manchester United have already met in the league this season. Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard were the goalscorers for the Red Devils on the way to a 2-1 comeback win over the Hammers. It was the second game for Cristiano Ronaldo on his return to Manchester United and he was able to score the equaliser to make it three goals in two league matches. Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo now has eight league goals and he’s on a two-game league drought. Lingard came off the bench to score the winning goal for Manchester United against his former club having spent the second half of last season at West Ham United as a Manchester United loanee.
