Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has stated that he would like to be reunited with the club’s former star Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently playing with Real Madrid. Ronaldo is regarded as one of the finest players to have represented United in recent years. He was also the last player from the club to lift the FIFA Ballon d’Or award. It has been heavily speculated in the summer that United would go to great lengths in order to bring the player back to Old Trafford. Even a possible bid in the region of £ 60 million has been suggested in the tabloids.

However, Ronaldo ended up staying at Madrid, where he has been playing since 2009. He is no longer the world transfer record holder after Gareth Bale’s move to Madrid for £ 83 million. This just eclipsed his £ 80 million transfer fee. There have been situations when Ronaldo has stated that he feels unhappy at Madrid. This has especially been true after the arrival of Bale. Rooney, who recently signed a new long-term contract with United, says that if there was one player he would like to bring back to the club, it would be Ronaldo.

Rooney enjoyed a great time with Ronaldo winning several titles including the Champions League.

“Cristiano Ronaldo and probably Luis Suarez a close second. The best player I’ve ever played with is between two – Ronaldo and Paul Scholes. Scholesy controlled the game and passed the ball around but in terms of winning games – Cristiano Ronaldo. Honestly I don’t know, I could be a manager at some point. It would depend on circumstances in my life and what chapter of my life I was at with my family and which club it would be,” said Rooney about his own future and his favourite signing.
